Cruise to the Historic Riverhead Tavern
Join us for a cruise on the Riverhead Ferry.
Cruise inland as far as possible!
The Riverhead Cruise
This cruise on the Riverhead Ferry takes us from Downtown Auckland, under the Auckland Harbour Bridge, past the Chelsea Sugar Works, Kauri Point Ammunition Dump, Hobsonville Airbase, Herald Island, Paremoremo Inlet and Huapai Golf Course all the way to Riverhead.
The uncharted, sheltered waterways of the upper Waitemata Harbour take you back in time to another era and a different pace of life.
After an 1½ hours cruise (with commentary if you wish) we reach the beautifully restored restaurant and tavern, The Riverhead, the second oldest licensed premise in NZ. The tavern is set on the bank and offers stunning views over the tranquil waterway.
You go ashore here and you can enjoy a meal and a few drinks whatever the occasion. Two hours later you board the boat for a leisurely cruise back to Auckland on the Riverhead Ferry.
